Dakota Foundry — Webster, South Dakota

Gray Iron & Ductile Iron Castings

American-made iron castings from a two-time AFS Casting of the Year winner. No-bake air-set process. Up to 5,000 lb. ISO 9001:2015 certified. Domestic supply chain, no overseas delays.

Gray Iron Castings

Gray iron is the workhorse of the foundry industry — excellent machinability, vibration damping, and compressive strength. Dakota Foundry produces Classes 30 through 45 gray iron using the no-bake air-set process for superior dimensional accuracy and surface finish.

Ductile Iron Castings

Ductile iron (nodular iron) delivers the strength and toughness of steel with the castability of iron. Dakota Foundry performs in-house magnesium treatment and produces grades from 60-40-18 through 100-70-03 — covering the full range of structural and wear-resistant applications.

How We Work

From Print to Finished Casting

01

Engineering Review

Our team reviews your print and specs. We identify parting lines, draft angles, and gating strategy before tooling begins.

02

Pattern & Tooling

Spartan Pattern produces precision wood, urethane, or metal patterns with MAGMA simulation to optimize gating and risering.

03

Mold Making

No-bake air-set sand molds are produced and assembled. Cores are set and the mold is prepared for pour.

04

Melting & Pour

Iron is melted in our induction furnaces and spectrometer-verified before every pour. Ductile iron receives magnesium treatment in-house.

05

Shakeout & Cleaning

Castings are shaken out, gates and risers removed, and shot-blasted to a clean finish.

06

Inspection & Shipping

Dimensional inspection, Brinell hardness, and spectrometer verification. PPAP documentation available. Shipped direct to your facility.
